So, what is Positive Training?

All 4 Paws recommends reward based, or positive reinforcement training that encourages the behaviours we like, and ignores or prevents the behaviours that are inappropriate.  It is much more effective than punishment based training, for a number of reasons.  - Firstly, instead of telling the dog that what it is doing is wrong, we ask it to perform the behaviour we would like to see, and then reward it.

Positive training is about teaching your dog (or any animal) without the use of pain, fear, force or intimidation. It is about working together with your dog, and increasing and maintaining the bond between you. With positive training, the dog wants to do what it is asked, instead of doing it because it is afraid of what will happen if it doesn't.
